In this post, we would like to address some of the ongoing issues in the community.
Do not discourage people to report another person who broke the rules
The first point that I would like to talk about is the fact that people are being called out for reporting acts of rule breakings. There is a set of rules and an ability for people to report to staff members to make sure the community is a friendly place to be. It happens that people encounter negative experiences with people that break the rules, but in those cases they can report the incident and we do our best to solve the situation.
When you can no longer comfortably report something your feelings are dealing with because you know you will be pestered with it, then CLWO is not a comfortable place to be anymore. Consider this post to be a final warning to those that have been shaming other for the act of being open about what happens.
Freedom of speech in TeamSpeak
Another point that I would like to touch upon is the openness of TeamSpeak. Currently, in TeamSpeak, we condoned people making statements that are ethically unaccepted, breaking the general rules. While we do want to provide the ability to be yourself in TeamSpeak and communicate with your friends the way you would personally do, this has been getting out of hand. Especially when you are in a channel with people that aren’t the friends that you interchange risky unethical comments with, should you show decency. There has been major annoyance of people publicly joking with such topics. This concerns behavior in teamspeak rooms, cards against humanity, scribble game names and the like. Show respect to your pals that do not make or appreciate your unethical sense of humor.
Since the ban reason is too long and you all deserve a proper explanation, this post also functions as an explanation of why Shankey is blacklisted for 6 months.
While the individual incidents with Shankey would only result in shorter punishments on their own, he had many incidents of slightly rulebreakings. The ban reason would include the following rules, which were all broken multiple times:
* Discouraging people to report another person who broke the rules is not allowed and will be punished accordingly.
* Do not make any jokes about anyone in the community with the intention of demeaning them or worse.
* Pushing your luck when it comes to touching the border between breaking the general rules and not breaking the general rules is not allowed.
An example of how Shankey pushes the rules far can be seen in our response to his report, where he tried to blackmail us, finding it very amusing to see our reaction to the fact he has someone telling him what happens in Slack and even jokingly throwing false accusations of other people about it. I do want to clarify that his report is an understandable one and of no reason for the blacklist, but his attitude around the Slack case is a typical example of his behavior.
Another big factor is the way he approaches it when other people report their interactions to staff. To multiple people has he reacted with blame and snarky comments. One example is Rex, who was repeatedly publicly called out. This ranges from publicly sharing an edited picture where his name is put above a character from Recess that is known in the TV series to be a snitch, to making snake noises in TeamSpeak. Paired with in-game annoying in Jailbreak and shoutbox posts like “Wohoo! I like snakesâ€, they make for it to be very unpleasant to be targeted like this.
His unfriendly behavior is made even clearer in an example with Evil Morty. He was also called out by Shankey for reporting things said in their conversation. When, at this point, Evil Morty has the feeling that anyone would have of being sad to be called out for it, he later receives more annoying comments including a blatant lie, where he then has to question whether he wants to risk reporting it with the chance of being called out again or ignore it, unknowing if I told Shankey to tell him his jokes are shit and that we will laugh at him. I want to clarify that I never requested any of this to Shankey. The below screenshot is a clear case of snarky comments that are much like bullying and make people feel horrible.
While this is only one incident of multiple and while I could talk about things like the fact that he is the only one getting himself banned from the TTT-meeting, the outline of cases I explained clearly show that this is the last kind of behaviour you would want in a safe community.
For Vimto’s case I shall be shorter. Vimto has been blacklisted twice already and has recently received a third chance, being unblacklisted from his permanent blacklist. He would show that he is now able to hold his temper and not let the little things ruin the greater enjoyment of the fun times he can have with other members. You can have great fun with Vimto, but sometimes it snaps or there is a specific annoyance. This appeared still to be the case, concluded from a hefty fight in TeamSpeak and the act of going back to someone that he annoyed before his blacklist to ask if they still know him and are still butthurt. Sadly, this shows us that he is still too much a source of negative energy, heavily ruining fun for others and upsetting them from time to time, with a high chance of these situations recurring, even tho he can be great fun to play with most of the time. Therefore, his blacklist has been made active again.
We are attempting to the best of our abilities to provide a place where people are free to have fun whilst maintaining a pleasant and comfortable environment for everyone.
Been a couple of months since the last meeting, things have changed so it seems time for another! As always, the meeting will be in three parts, the first two of which are accessible to everyone, staff or not. If you're a staff member, please use this poll to say whether you can come or not.
If some of you could just have a quick think of anything you'd like improving (even if you don't know how) or similar before the meeting starts, it might make the initial silence easier to overcome.
[e: The meeting is on Saturday 02/06/2018 8:00 PM CEST (7:00 PM BST)]

Its that time again, the CLWO Competitive Event for the Summer season for 2018
We are running a 1v1 Knockout event & a Major 5v5 Group event this year.
Please keep an eye on the main post for any updates or changes missed.
*** NOTE: Applications are open until 8th June. Games are able to begin from the 15th June up until 29th June 2018, with the 3rd & 4th July being the Semi-Finals & Finals. ***
(There may be changes at any moment without prior notice)
These are the important bits you'll need to know:
- Blacklisted players are NOT allowed to enter / play in this event. The CLWO Blacklist plugins will be in effect, so blacklisted members will be unavailable to join this event. In addition, if you are steamrep banned / reported as a cheater, you will also NOT be eligible to join the server & unable to compete in the event.
-Â The CLWO General rules applies to each tournament. Any trolling / mis-behaviour / racism etc will lead to disqualifications or even suspensions / blacklists from the community. -Â The tournament administrator(s) (Currently LakiM) & Main CLWO Senators (Square, MrGibbyGibson, Classy, iNilo) have the ability to disqualify any applications, forfeit any matches (within reason) or make changes to the tournament at any moment.
- If you are blacklisted during the tournament / disqualified, all matches will receive a loss to your name & the opponent(s) will take the win. This applies to 1v1. 5v5 is allowed to play as 4v5, unless the team finds a replacement that is APPROVED by LakiM due to the blacklisted player. For example, if the player that was blacklisted/disqualified was a LEM (skill leveled) player, the player that is a replacement cannot be same skill level as blacklisted/disqualified player. LakiM will make this decision.
- If you decide to not turn up to a match because you "don't feel like it", or decide to "forfeit yourself" without a valid reason, you will receive a suspension from future tournaments & the possibility of a blacklist. (Main CLWO Senators will make this decision.)
- All registrations will need to be accepted by the Tournament Administrators in order to play, this applies to both the 1v1 and 5v5. I will leave a post with your name / team name once you have registered to let you know if your team is eligible to compete.
- Once your team is registered & eligible, I will need to add each player & confirm they are wanting to play for that team. Once all members confirm, no swapping or changes are allowed.
- Eligible team=All participants are community members of CLWO, LakiM and Main CLWO Senators will decide who are eligible and who arent.Â
We've updated the Anti-Cheat system this time, as we do each time, to the best system possible. We are now using EAC's Client-Side system to be run for each game. You can download Easy Anti-Cheat from the steam store (for free) here - Run this program first, and then open CS:GO, and then join the server as soon as you get the details, for the anti-cheat to work. NOTE: If you don't have the anti-cheat running, you will be removed from the session until it runs.
The Major 5v5 Group Event:
The 5v5 event this year will allow as many groups to register, and will allow each team to face each team once to build points towards the final. You will gain 3 points for a win and 0 points for a loss (no draws available, as there will be a repetitive BO6 Overtime) which will go towards your team. Each game will get a map-veto & will be a BO1. The top 4 teams will qualify for the final shootout, where 1st place will get first pick & face 3rd place finishers, and 2nd place will get first pick & face 4th place finishers, both being a BO3 match, following to the final match, where the winner of 1st/3rd place will get first pick & will also be a BO3, to crown the champion.
The 1v1 Knockout Event:
The 1v1 Knockout event will consist of 3 maps, like the previous events. 1 AK/M4 Map, 1 AWP Map & 1 Pistol map as a decider. Registrants will be put in a list, in order from registering to the event, added to the challonge list in the same order, and will be shuffled 5 times to decide the matches. Some players may need to play an additional game to qualify to the main first round, dependent on the amount of players that register.
The application is only required by the captain of the team / individual. If you are in a team, but would like to register yourself to the 1v1 event too, only submit the 1v1 application as your 5v5 will already be entered.
